On International Equal Pay Day, we shine a light on the new UNE-ISO 53800:2024, which establishes a working methodology to promote equality between women and men through various guidelines and best practices in organizations worldwide.
This document establishes a working methodology to promote equality between women and men through various guidelines and best practices.
Each organisation, based on its specific situation, will propose challenges and objectives to make effective progress in this area and to maintain continuous improvement.
The standard aims to bring about a knock-on effect, from entity to entity, promoting the search for partners committed to equality worldwide and using common language. In fact, most of the standard's terms and definitions have been taken from international references such as UN Women, the Council of Europe or ISO standards.
UNE-ISO 53800:2024 includes three informative Annexes as useful support tools:
• Annex A. Guideline for the development of a grievance mechanism to prevent, detect and respond to gender-based violence, including sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment internally as well as in engagement with external stakeholders.
• Annex B. Indicators of the comparative situation of women and men.
• Annex C. Good practices and practical examples.
