IATF Rules. 6th edition

16/12/2024

The recently published IATF Rules (6th edition) include new requirements with respect to the previous version, which are mandatory from 1 January 2025.

This document outlines the requirements that certification bodies must meet to obtain and maintain recognition to issue certificates as per the IATF 16949 standard; however, many of these requirements directly affect IATF 16949 certified organizations, which must be aware of them and comply with them.
The most important changes involve: the eligibility of IATF 16949 (e.g., application of aftermarket parts or components for charging electric vehicles), audit deadlines, certificate structure, audit method, deadline for submitting the action plan, etc.
IATF 16949:2016 is still in force since it is based on ISO 9001, and will be reviewed when the new version of ISO 9001 is published.
