UNE 149401 for the control of discharges to the sanitation network

15/10/2024

The UNE 149401 standard is now available, the aim of which is to provide basic guidelines to municipalities and public administrations for the preparation of an ordinance or regulation on discharges to the sanitation network
This standard aims to guarantee safety and reliability with a new regulatory development, and also by reviewing or updating existing ordinances or regulations.

The use of these guidelines by users may require additional specifications, depending on the specific circumstances: population size, the impact that this could have on the release of industrial discharges to the sanitation network, etc. It also considers urban wastewater treatment stations, which must comply with the requirements established in the authorizations to discharge to the Public Water Domain set by the relevant Water Authority.

The use of these guidelines ensures a certain level of security in the principles that should govern the reduction of pollution at its source, with the aim of preserving and guaranteeing the quality of the receiving environment, as well as protecting and ensuring the proper functioning of the entire infrastructure that makes up a city's sanitation system.

The standard contains 25 annexes that provide when applying the standard: reference legislation, flow measurement, discharges of specific occasional releases, discharge limits tables, prohibited discharges, amount of sanctions, CNAE tables, etc.
