The standard aims to harmonise definitions, concepts and procedures for the management of animal shelters ASBK ) and boarding kennels for dogs and cats to establish hygienic, health and animal welfare guidelines based on scientific studies and the experience of specialist technicians.
It also establishes requirements for this type of facility and classifies the different types of shelters and boarding kennels according to their activities.
The standard applies to public and private boarding kennels and animal shelters and dog and cat kennels. Designed for owners of facilities, veterinary technical directors, working and volunteer staff working in shelters and kennels for dogs and cats.
The Annexes of the standard include Annex A (Regulatory), on the registration sheet of animals.
