UNE standards to control hepatitis A in foodstuffs

07/03/2024

Wwithin the wide range of standards on microbiology of the food chain, we highlight the UNE-EN ISO 15216 series for the detection and determination of the hepatitis A virus and norovirus in soft fruits, leaves, stems, plant bulbs, bottled water and bivalve molluscs.

The standard UNE-EN ISO 15216-1 describes a method to quantify the RNA levels of HAV and norovirus of genogroups I and II, based on samples for analysis of foodstuffs or food surfaces. This standard is amended by UNE-EN ISO 15216-1: 2017/A1:2021.

UNE-EN ISO 15216-2:2020 develops a method for the detection of hepatitis A virus and norovirus from genogroups I and II from test samples of foodstuffs or food surfaces using real-time RT-PCR.
