The UNE-EN ISO 56001:2024 standard is now available, which cancels and replaces the previous version from 2021.
This standard sets out the requirements for an innovation management system which an organisation can harness to develop and showcase its innovation capability, enhance its innovation performance and create value for customers and other stakeholders.
It applies to any type of organisation regardless of kind or size, the products and services provided or the forms of and approaches to innovation used.
As a reference standard, it refers to UNE-EN ISO 56000:2022 which is essential for the implementation of the new UNE-EN ISO 56001.
The benefits of implementing an innovation management system are:
1. Greater creation of value by tapping new products, services, processes, models, methods, etc. for the organisation and stakeholders.
2. Better innovation performance by systematically managing innovation activities under conditions of uncertainty.
3. Sustained development of innovation capabilities.
4. Improving reputation to attract users, customers, employees and partners.
5. Enhanced collaboration capacity.
6. Greater ability to attract funding.
7. Increased resilience and the ability to evolve in a dynamic and uncertain environment.
This standard furnishes a common language and framework for organisations to set up and roll out an innovation management system.
