Summary:
This document is applicable to vertical glazing and horizontal glazing inclined to the attack side with a fall arrest function, i.e. serving as a perimeter. It is applicable to the following categories of glazing: — Category A : Glazing in accordance with DIN 18008-2 and DIN 18008-3 that transfers horizontal live loads and corresponds to one of the following groups: — A1: glass element supported linearly on at least three edges or by plate supports or a combination of linear and plate supports that does not correspond to A2 or A3; — A2: glass element clamped only at the lower edge by means of clamping or plate holders; — A3: glass element supported on at least two opposite edges either linearly or by means of countersunk head holders or by means of edge clamps or by means of combinations of the aforementioned types of support, also with plate holders. — Category B : Glazing in accordance with DIN 18008-2 and DIN 18008-3 that indirectly transfers horizontal live loads. The individual panes are connected by a continuous handrail at the required height. The handrail can be attached to the upper edge of the pane or by means of plate holders or countersunk head holders in accordance with DIN 18008-3. — Category C : Glazing in accordance with DIN 18008-2 and DIN 18008-3 that does not transfer horizontal live loads at the required height. The glazing is only a filling element, the handrail is connected to the adjacent building structure (e. g. steel posts, concrete wall). The glazing must correspond to one of the following groups: — C1: Railing infills; — C2: Glazing below a load-bearing transom arranged at the required height; — C3: Glazing with a load-bearing transom placed in front at the required height.
